When starting, some fields have to be filled in to create a project, no matter the type of project (new document, store an already signed document ...).
These fields are the following ones:
If you'd like to use the document template or an external file
the name of the counterparty
the language (when there are versions available in different languages)
the name of the project
To these default fields, you can add others. You have the ability to make the completion of some fields mandatory to generate the project.
What for?
It can be to ensure that certain fields in the contract or the summary sheet will be filled in by the person who creates the project; this will save you from having to run after the information or check that everything is filled in. This saves you time.
How do I make field completion mandatory?
Go to and open the template for which you want to make field completion mandatory.
Open the summary sheet settings on the right side of the screen, as below:
Then, click on the three points that appears when going over a smartfield :
Then move the mouse over the field you want to make mandatory and go on "Not mandatory".
Finally, click on "Mandatory for generation":
Once this option is selected, an asterisk appears next to the field that is mandatory for the creation of the document, as below:
You can require as many fields to be completed/entered as you like.
What happens when someone creates a new project?
When a field has been marked as mandatory for generation, it appears in the document generation form. It will then have to be filled in as well as the default fields and the potential other fields that can condition the content of the document for example.
On the image below, we can see that the "Amount" field, made mandatory in the steps explained above, is in the generation form and is mandatory and need to be filled in to create the project.
Thus, it will not be possible to create the document if all the fields are not filled in.
